Film Description
All four episodes of the Channel 4 drama mini-series The Promise, starring Claire Foy and Christian Cooke, which is an inspiring depiction of political injustice experienced in modern day Israel and the old state of Palestine in the Second World War.
Written and directed by Peter Kosminsky, the series follows London teenager Erin (Foy) as she travels to modern-day Israel to retrace the steps of her grandfather Len (Christian Cooke), who as a young man was part of the post-WWII British peace-keeping force in what was then Palestine. As she reads Len's diary, Erin uncovers some disturbing truths about Len's time in Palestine, which is played out in a sequence of flashbacks throughout the drama.
