Film Description

A chronicle of the life of Lope de Vega (Alberto Ammann), the Spanish playwright who dominated Spain's early Golden Age of theatre.

In 16th Century Spain, gifted young playwright and soldier Lope de Vega returns to Madrid from the war, filled with ambition and eager to live by his writing. First, he has to work as a humble copyist. Troubles begin when he falls for his boss's ravishing daughter Elena (Pilar López de Ayala), and soon he is on the run with the law hot on his heels as he tries to clear his slandered name.
