High-voltage action abounds in this sequel to The Terminator in which young John Connor, the future leader of a human rebellion in a machine-dominated world, is under threat from the new T-1000 Terminator - an improved, virtually unkillable model. The adult John sends a copy of the original Terminator back in time, this time to protect the boy and his mother, Sarah. As the battle of the behemoths begins, those on the side of good realise that they can alter the future enough to stop the slaughter on 'Judgement Day' when the computers commence Armageddon.
The weakest of the franchise, 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines' is set ten years later. John Connor is living on the streets and his mother, Sarah, is long since dead. Once again he is the target of Terminators from the future. This time his enemy is female and is even more powerful than her predecessors. However, the resistance sends another robot (Arnold Schwarzenegger) back from the future to help keep Connor, and his future wife, alive. More light-hearted than the rest of the franchise, but notable for an extremely brave and apocalyptic finale.
'Terminator: Salvation' is the fourth and most recent film. Set in 2018, the human race is at war with Skynet and its army of deadly Terminators. John Connor is a young soldier who is destined to become the leader of the human resistance. However, he is forced to question his certainty about the future when a mysterious stranger named Marcus Wright suddenly appears, and John must decide whether he has been sent from the past or the future. As Skynet grows more and more powerful and all hope for the human race looks like being eliminated in one final devastating attack, John and Marcus journey to the centre of Skynet's operations where they discover a shocking secret...
