Film Description

In the 1960s, encouraged by the government, large numbers of families left Chinese cities to settle in the poorer regions of the country in order to develop local industry. Now a father believes that his family’s future lies in Shanghai but his daughter wants to remain with her friends in Guizhou province. How can the family remain together when they don't share the same dreams? This is a film in which Wang Xiaoshuai explores his own past and his memories of the community in which he once lived. The Jury Prize winner at Cannes in 2005.
