Film Description
Adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel starring Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen. When wealthy Mr Bingley (Simon Woods) and his friend, the dashing Mr Darcy (MacFadyen) arrive in a small Hertfordshire town, Mrs Bennett (Brenda Blethyn) sees it as the perfect opportunity to marry off her eligible daughters. But when Elizabeth Bennett (Knightley) meets Mr Darcy, their equally headstrong natures get in the way of true love.
Keira Knightley earned a well-deserved Oscar nomination for her spirited turn as Elizabeth Bennet in this lavish and highly enjoyable Jane Austen adaptation. Director Joe Wright breathes new life into this much-filmed classic romance, whilst the droll screenplay retains all of Austen's biting wit.

The New Pride & Prejudice is a beautiful movie. The acting was superb. Matthew Macfadyen was brillant as Darcy. He showed Darcy to be proud but human. He is a great actor and he has a beautiful voice, which is easy on the ear. K Knightley was beautiful and did the role of Lizzy very well. Judi Dench and Donald Sutherland were brillant as usual. Tom Hollander made a very good Mr Collins. The music was beautiful and the locations and costumes were fantastic. Joe Wright's directing was brilliant. This is a movie I will watch over and over again. Well done to all the cast and crew. Very enjoyable. < less
