Film Description
Two films based on the work of playwright Harold Pinter - Pinter's Progress and The Homecoming.
'Pinter's Progress' (2009) is a documentary based around a series of interviews with actors, directors and writers who discuss their experiences of working with Pinter.
'The Homecoming' (1973) is a filmed version of Pinter's play. Made as part of the American Film Theatre Collection, although it is British in origin and set in London, the play is directed for the screen by Peter Hall. When Teddy (Michael Jayston) brings his wife Ruth (Vivien Merchant) home to meet his estranged family - his pathetic father Max (Paul Rogers), senile uncle Sam (Cyril Cusack) and unsavoury brothers Lenny (Ian Holm) and Joey (Terence Rigby) - the young couple's visit opens up old wounds for the family, dredging up secrets from their murky past.
