Bizarre period piece from Truffaut that is very long, very funny and has no idea what type of movie it wants to be.
Beginning as a romance, the film soon morphs into a thriller with a large ammount of plot twists. Belmondo and Deneuve are both superb, if a little "going through the motions", their on-screen chemistry is one reason to stay with this one. It will probably tease and frustrate you, but you will be impressed by the film's innate oddness! < less
