Film DescriptionCosta-Gavras's first American film is the prime cinematic evocation of a military coup, based on true events in the Chilean coup of 1973. Jack Lemmon gives a standout performance as Ed Horman, father of political activist Charles Horman (John Shea) who suddenly disappears. His wife Beth (Sissy Spacek) and father go in search of their husband and son with the growing realisation that the family has been betrayed by their own US government.
