Brighten up those dark evenings with the feelgood favourite Mamma Mia!

If the long cold nights are getting you down, this big-screen adaptation of the long-running West End musical packs enough endorphins to see you through a Lapland winter.

The feelgood hit stars the preternaturally energetic Meryl Streep as Donna, an ex-rocker who’s hung up her platform shoes to run a guest house on an idyllic Greek island. Her daughter Sophie dreams of being given away by her father on her wedding day; the problem is, nobody knows who he is – Donna included. Undeterred, Sophie invites three men from Donna’s carefree past to settle the matter once and for all – cue the arrival of Bill (Stellan Skarsgård), Harry (Colin Firth) and Sam (Pierce Brosnan), and the makings of a delightful musical farce. With Julie Walters on hand to round out the middle-aged slapstick, Mamma Mia! has a warm, almost town-hall musical feel – the cast may not always sing in tune, but you certainly won’t be embarrassed to join in.

Film Description

Feelgood blockbuster adaptation of the smash-hit stage musical. Meryl Streep leads an all-star cast as Donna, an independent single mother who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island. Her daughter Sophie is about to get married, and Donna invites her two lifelong best girlfriends - practical and no-nonsense Rosie and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tanya - to the wedding. However, after reading her mother's diary, Sophie secretly invites three of her mother's old flames to the wedding too in the hope of finding out who her real father is.
