Film Description
L'une Chante, L'autre Pas (One Sings, the Other Doesn't) sees French filmmaker Agnes Varda charting the friendship of two women against the backdrop of the feminist movement of the 1960s and 70s.
When middle-class teenager Pomme (Valerie Mairesse) helps her troubled young neighbour Suzanne (Therese Liotard) to find the money for an abortion, a lifelong friendship between the two women develops. Ten years later, Pomme has become an unconventional singer and Suzanne a serious community worker - despite the contrast they remain friends and share in the dramas of each others' lives, in the process affirming their different female identities.
