Film Description

This love story starring Louis Malle's lover Jeanne Moreau caused a scandal on its international release. Moreau plays a bored high society wife who embarks on a passionate affair with a young student.

Whilst classical of structure and mood, Malle's subject exposes the very social sclerosis which afflicted post war France and which the New Wave sought to eradicate with hand-held camera. The Women's Picture meets the new sensibility.
