Film Description

A bittersweet British drama starring Robert Carlyle, I Know You Know is a very different tale from the director of Human Traffic. 11 year-old Jamie is uprooted to a new home and a new school, where he frequently catches the attention of bullies. But Jamie understands the reasons for his dislocated lifestyle: His father, Charlie (Robert Carlyle), whom he idolises, is involved in undercover activities that demand the continual shifting of identity and location. But as Charlie’s behaviour becomes increasingly paranoid and unpredictable the rapidly maturing Jamie comes to realise that the world his father inhabits is very different to the one he imagines.

Robert Carlyle brings a peerless intensity and pathos to the role of Charlie, while Arron Fuller makes an impressive screen debut in this poignant, darkly humorous film written and directed by acclaimed young Welsh filmmaker Justin Kerrigan – winner of multiple awards for the frenetic Human Traffic (1999). Filmed from a child’s-eye perspective and set against a remote backdrop of 1980s consumerist fantasy and uneasy peace, I Know You Know is the story of a retreat from painful realities, and a film about love and loss.
