Film Description

Documentary looking at the history of Hollywood musicals in the 1950s. Considered the golden age of the musical, this decade, with the use of Cinemascope and stereophonic sound, saw many of the best musicals being produced. The programme includes songs from: 'Royal Wedding' (1951), 'Singin' in the Rain' (1952), 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' (1953), 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers' (1954), 'Oklahoma' (1955), 'Carousel' (1956) and 'The King and I' (1956).
