Film DescriptionDocumentary looking at the history of Hollywood musicals during the 1940s. Despite a World War taking place, this decade saw Hollywood produce over 550 movie musicals, many of which were produced by MGM, who became the leading studio in musical production with the help of directors Vincente Minnelli and Stanley Donen and producer Arthur Freed. This programme features songs from the musicals, 'Second Chorus' (1940), 'Babes On Broadway' (1941), 'Yankee Doodle Dandy' (1942), 'Meet Me in St Louis' (1944), 'Cover Girl' (1944) and 'The All-Star Bond Rally' (1945).
