This black comedy explores the lives of three middle-class sisters living in New Jersey. They are trying to find 'Happiness' but problems with their families and sex lives keep cropping up, leading to both heartbreaking and humourous consequences. At times this is difficult to watch, such is impact of the painfully funny, misanthropic vision of this talented director, whose acute sense of the internal pain and neuroses of his characters is matched by his unflinching, beautifully controlled direction. Ultimately a challenging and rewarding film that you won't forget in a hurry. < less
