Film Description

Starring Rachel Roberts (This Sporting Life) and sensitively directed by Charles Frend, Girl on Approval is an absorbing study of troubled lives.

Sheila is 14. Her father abandoned her as a baby, her mum's in jail and she's stuck in a children's home. Every family that has tried to look after her has found her too difficult. Now Anne (Rachel Roberts) and John Howland (James Maxwell) want to foster her. But if they can't make a home for her, her future looks bleak. Will they be any more successful than their predecessors?
