Preminger’s much-acclaimed epic about the birth of modern Israel has become a relatively rare item on TV – but all such showings are now redundant in light of this spectacularly impressive DVD transfer, in which all the widescreen splendour of Preminger’s vision is reproduced with crystal clarity.
