Film Description

A powerful Spanish childhood drama, El Bola was the winner of four Goya awards (the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars), and depicts the friendship between two 12-year-old boys from very different families. Pablo - nicknamed 'El Bola' (The Pellet) after the ballbearing he carries as a lucky charm - is a troubled, withdrawn child who has been brought up in a violent and abusive home. His only pleasure comes from playing chicken on the railway tracks - until he meets a new boy who introduces him to a family life without fear. A powerful and unsentimental tale of teenage friendship.
