December 7th DVD, 1943

Film DescriptionDuring World War II, director John Ford joined the ranks of the many Hollywood actors and filmmakers who participated in the war's film propaganda effort. At the behest of the United States' military, Ford and legendary cinematographer Gregg Toland (Citizen Kane) made the docu-drama December 7th, which re-created the attack on Pearl Harbor. The film proved controversial, with the War Department censoring almost half the film because it was too even-handed and didn't sufficiently demonise the Japanese. This release contains both the original censored version and the full-length edit.
