Film Description
True story told as a documentary-type film using non-professional actors. It portrays a young girl's descent into the drug scene of 70s Berlin ending up as a prostitute at the age of 14.
Gritty drama, made using non-professional actors, based on the true confessions of 13-year-old Christiane (played here by Natja Brunckhorst), a girl who lives with her mother in a high-rise tower block, gets into drugs after visiting an ultra-modern disco known as the 'Sound', and eventually becomes an underage prostitute in order to pay for her heroin addiction. This hard-hitting film is set against the background music of David Bowie, who also appears briefly in a concert scene.

There have been numerous film portrayals over
the last few decades that shed light on the dark
world of Heroin addiction and the subsequent
havok it reaks on the recipient and everyone
close to the user. Pictures like The Man with the
Golden Arm(Frank Sinatra), Panic in Needle Park
(Al Pacino),Sid and Nancy(Gary Oldman), etc, etc.
But i believe there does not exist even to this
day a film that portrays the true suffering of
Herion addiction like Chritiane F. The withdrawl
sequence of the two main characters Chritiane and
Detlev is unlike anything attempted in cinematic
history. The film is a difficult watch but a very
needed one in order to truly discover what the
desperate agony of drug addiction is like.
