Film Description
Screen idol Doris Day tackles industrial espionage alongside Richard Harris in classic 1960s spy spoof Caprice, a comedy caper directed by Frank Tashlin (The Girl Can't Help It ).
Doris Day plays Patricia Fowler, a spy hired to work undercover at a cosmetics company to discover a new formula that the firm is planning to market. But it soon transpires that make-up is not the only product they're selling as the company is involved in an international drug-smuggling ring and Patricia finds herself doing battle with ruthless agents. Joining forces with fellow spy Christopher White (Richard Harris) the pair take on evil genius Stuart Clancy (Ray Walston).

A film that has long been hard to see - and is very much a mixed bag. Frank Tashlin's inventive spy spoof has a mature Doris Day involved in industrial espionage alongside a notably younger Richard Harris. Day plays a spy working undercover at a cosmetics company to discover a new formula that the firm is planning to market. Frankly, it's a mess, but a fascinating one with all involved still able to remind us why they were held in such high esteem, though it's Harris relatively early in his career, and Day and Tashlin late in theirs. < less
