Film Description
A made-for-TV drama which was ITV1's big attraction for Golden Jubilee night, Bertie and Elizabeth offers a dramatic portrait of the young life of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and stars Juliet Aubrey as Elizabeth and James Wilby as George VI.
Focusing on the royal couple's courtship and on the subsequent birth of their daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret, the film also looks at the abdication of Edward VIII, the role of the royal family during WWII, and George's early death. Co-starring Alan Bates as George V, Eileen Atkins as Queen Mary, and Robert Hardy as President Roosevelt.
