MovieMail's ReviewThis series is a national institution and offers one of the most compelling narratives in television history Now entering its fifth decade, this extraordinary exploration of the British class system has become a national institution, as well as one of the most compelling narratives in television history. Taking the Jesuit maxim “give me a child until he is seven and I will give you the man” as his starting point, in 1964 Michael Apted selected fourteen 7 year-old British schoolchildren on the basis of their socio-economic backgrounds, asking them their hopes and dreams for the future.

Film DescriptionThis enthralling series begins in 1964, with the programme 7 Up!, in which 14 children from diverse backgrounds from all over England were asked about their lives and their dreams for the future. Every seven years afterwards, at the ages of 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, and most recently 49, the interviewees were revisited and the progression of their lives examined. This is an extraordinary look at the structure of life in the 20th, and now the 21st century.
