Film Description

Charles Chaplin won an Honorary Academy Award for versatility and genius in acting, writing, directing and producing his silent comedy The Circus, where - having been chased there by the police, Charlie's Tramp finds he is an unwitting hit. in the ring and is immediately hired by the ringmaster. Thereafter he falls for the ringmaster's acrobatic daughter (Merna Kennedy), but finds competition from the tightrope walker. Full of visual gags, this is both very funny and very touching.
