Albert Lamorisse's The Red Balloon, in which a red balloon with a life of its own follows a little boy around the streets of Paris, is simply one of the most magically charming films ever made. It also provides a valuable colour record of the Belleville area of Paris before it was levelled to the ground in the late 1960.
