Cronos (Blu-ray) Blu-ray, 1992

A brilliant Mexican fantasy from Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth), Cronos pumps exciting new blood into the old vampire legend. Jesus Gris is an antique dealer who, with his grandaughter Aurora, discovers a mysterious clockwork scarab-shaped device at the base of an old statue which belonged to a 16th century alchemist who sought eternal life. The scarab does indeed grant eternal life - providing it is fed with blood. Soon, Jesus is in its grip.
