Film DescriptionDouble bill of British crime dramas. 'The Painted Smile' (Comfort, 1962) sees young student Mark (Peter Reynolds) wrongly accused of murder. He is lured back to an apartment by con-artist Jo (Liz Fraser), only to find her boyfriend brutally murdered on the floor. Jo convinces Mark to help her dispose of the body which leads to him being arrested for the man's murder. 'Rag Doll' (1958) tells the story of a young, attractive 17-year-old girl named Carol (Christine Gregg) who is desperate to leave her impoverished life working at her father's diner. She flees to London where she meets and falls in love with a handsome rocker (Jess Conrad). They soon marry but find themselves in a lot of trouble after their involvement in a robbery which goes horribly wrong.
