Film Description

Peter Plunkett (Peter O’Toole) has a problem. He owns a dilapidated old castle in the corner of Ireland and, unable to keep up the mortgage payments, is in danger of losing it to a ruthless tycoon who wants to transplant it brick for brick to California as a theme park. Peter and his wacky staff are despondent until they hit on the idea of pretending the castle is haunted so as to attract American tourists. The castle promises to be the top attraction. Amongst the new visitors is Jack Crawford (Steve Guttenberg), desperate to re-ignite the romance in his marriage to icy wife Sharon (Beverly D’Angelo). Although Plunkett and his staff do their utmost to haunt the castle their efforts are quite lame, until they anger the real castle ghosts who decide to take matters into their own hands. Chaos ensues when beautiful ghost Mary Plunkett (Daryl Hannah) falls in love with Jack and decides to break the prohibition on ghosts consorting with mortals.
