Film Description

Collection of five films adapted from stories by Stephen King. In '1408' (2007), Mike Enslin (John Cusack), a horror novelist specialising in exposing paranormal events in houses and graveyards worldwide, decides to add suite 1408 of the notorious Dolphin Hotel to his list of conquests for his latest project, 'Ten Nights in Haunted Hotel Rooms'. Ignoring the warnings of the hotel manager Gerald Olin (Samuel L. Jackson), Enslin checks in, sure of exposing yet another sham. But before too long Mike is forced to accept proof of the afterlife, as he fights to survive until the morning.

In 'The Stand' (1994), when a lab run by the government lets a deadly virus escape, the majority of the world's population is destroyed. Those who survived all recount having seen two figures in their dreams - a terrifying man and a mysterious old woman, representing the forces of good and evil. Now a final confrontation between the two figures looks set to take place.

In 'Pet Sematary' (1989), a family moves to a new home in Maine, situated next to a pet cemetery and Indian burial ground, which is rumoured to bring the dead back to life. When his son is killed by a passing truck, the father tests out the rumour, and does get his son back - but resurrection seems to have uncovered a new malicious side to the boy's character.

In 'Golden Years' (1992), during an accident at an agricultural research station, the ageing janitor is exposed to chemicals used in a tissue regeneration experiment. This results in the janitor growing younger and younger whilst developing some strange powers.

Finally, in 'The Langoliers' (1995), a group of ordinary aircraft passengers awakens mid-flight to find the plane empty, with no pilots or flight attendants in sight. The crewless jet is hurtling towards a world very different from the one it left behind, but one of the passengers is an off-duty pilot who manages to land the plane. What they find shocks them, as they are the only souls alive on the planet.
