Film Description

Anthony Mann's Man of the West is one of the great films in the genre, by a director who is now acclaimed by many as the most accomplished craftsman in the medium, producing a body of work even more impressive (and certainly more psychologically complex) than the doyen of Western directors, John Ford. Interestingly, Gary Cooper, past his best days as a Western star becomes a far more interesting figure in Man of the West because of his maturity, and the film is remarkable piece of work. < less
