This volume in the VINTAGE COMEDY series celebrates the work of comedy legends Buster Keaton, Abbot and Costello, and Laurel and Hardy. Keaton is at the top of his form in SHERLOCK JR. (1924), in which he plays a film projectionist turned amateur sleuth in a world with boundless opportunities for physical comedy. OUR HOSPITALITY (1923) stars Keaton as a New Yorker returning to his native south only to become embroiled in a long standing, and comedic, family feud. The legendary comedic duo Abbott and Costello star in this wacky version of JACK AND THE BEANSTALK (1952). The pair sticks closely to the original plot, but add to the story with their signature comic timing and slapstick humour. While babysitting a small boy, Jack (Lou Costello) falls asleep and has a wild dream in which people from the real world appear. Abott plays Mr. Dinkelpuss, the conman who tricks Jack into selling his cow for fist full of beans. Throughout Jack's adventures, there are several singing and dancing sequences. UTOPIA (1951) is the last screen appearances of incomparable comedy duo Laurel and Hardy. Stan and Ollie inherit a tropical island in the Pacific, but while traveling to see it, they come across a different island that turns out to be rich in uranium. The new landowners dub the new-found island Atoll K and form an idealized society with no taxes or laws. When people flock to this lawless land, chaos erupts, and the minions turn against their bumbling leaders.
