Film Description

Triple pack of childrens animated features. 'Hoodwinked!' (2005) is an animated re-imagining of Red Riding Hood, but this picture starts in the immediate aftermath - detectives called to a disturbance at Granny's house. Riding Hood (Anne Hathaway) has not been so easy to molest, it appears - the matter of her black belt in at least one martial art is uncovered. Her granny (Glenn Close), a pensioner of rather dubious moral character, is complicit at the very least. The wolf (Patrick Warburton) is looking surprisingly put-upon here. Forest creatures gather and gossip about what possible set of circumstances could lead to this mysterious and sinister scene: axes, wolves, complicit purple-haired pensioners, girls in capes - what gives? A convoluted plot unfolds and the charges to be laid are miscellaneous: menacing wielding of forestry tools, unlawful entry with intent to snack and breach of the peace. A possible link to the case of the Goodie Bandit - the habitual thief of tasty treat recipes - draws forest detectives, led by chief Grizzly (Xzibit), deeper into the intrigue. In 'Racing Stripes' (2005), Nolan Walsh (Bruce Greenwood), ex-racehorse trainer and his daughter Channing (Hayden Panettiere) care for a zebra pony after it is left behind by a traveling circus. Naming him Stripes (voiced by Frankie Muniz), the zebra is welcomed by the other animals on the farm. With the help of Channing and the other animals, can Stripes' dream of racing with thoroughbreds come true? 'Arthur and the Invisibles' (2006) follows a little boy with a big imagination and the creations he conjures up in his mind. Arthur lives with his granny in the country. His grandfather has recently died and his parents don't get in touch much. His grandma entertains him by telling stories of the Mimimoys - a race of miniscule, elf-like beings who live in her garden. According to these stories, the Minimoys hold a wondrous and expensive treasure of rubies given by an African tribe to Arthur's grandfather. When a ruthless property developer threatens to evict granny unless she comes up with a tidy sum in two days, Arthur decides the Rubies must be worth enough to cover the payment and sets about tracking down the Mimimoys to relieve them of the jewels.
