Film Description

The definitive documentary portrait of the operatic diva Maria Callas. Although she died 30 years ago at the age of only 53, her records today outsell every other recorded classical artist. Hers was not the most beautiful voice of her time, as she frequently admitted, but she sang from the heart, without artifice and with astonishing power. Her end was pathetic. Anyone who met her in Paris in the seventies agrees that she was one of the loneliest and most desperate of women. Throughout her 18 year career, she was the greatest singing actress in our time.
