Film Description

A collection of three war dramas. The Bridge on the River Kwai (David Lean, 1957) is set in Burma during World War II and follows British POWs forced to build a large bridge for the Japanese, while Allied commandos are sent to destroy it. Winner of 7 Acadaemy Awards. The Guns of Navarone (J Lee Thompson, 1961) is a war film based on a novel by Alistair Maclean, which tells of the attempts of a British raiding team to sabotage two giant German guns on a Turkish island in the Aegean Sea. Das Boot (Wolfgang Peterson, 1981) is a dramatic German film highlighting all the tensions and dangers that befall a U-boat's crew during World War II.
