Film Description

White Afrikaner James Gregory grew up on a farm in the Transkei and learned to speak Xhosa at an early age - which makes him the ideal person to become the warder of Nelson Mandela and his comrades on Robben Island as he can listen in on them. Gradually though, through Mandela's influence, Gregory's allegiance shifts from the racist government to the struggle for a free South Africa.
