Film Description
The original black and white version of the horror 'Night Of The Living Dead', written by John A. Russo, in which flesh-eating zombies rise from their graves to devour the living. Despite its outlandish premise, this is a fine piece of filmmaking, and the ending still packs a punch to the gut after all these years.
One quiet morning, Barbara and Johnny's visit to their father's grave is interrupted when Johnny is killed by a flesh-eating stranger. Barbara escapes to a nearby farmhouse, meets up with a few other desperate individuals, and prepares to do battle with the zombies who gather outside.

Many people see Night of the Living Dead as a classic film, and in many respects this is true. But has it stood the test of time... Well the answer to this question is no. The acting is, at times, wooden, as is the woeful script. Some of the zombies in the film look hilarious at times, but I don't think this is what George Romero intended. The gore is often talked about and rightfully so, but I have seen far better. For some reason, we in the U.K. seem to get a raw deal when it comes to films like this one. Tartan Video's DVD release of this film is a bit like the film itself, nothing special. Just a simple review and a poor photo gallery is included. My verdict: A poor film with even worse features. Tartan should bow their heads in shame. < less
