Presented by Simon Schama, Rough Crossings is the story of the struggle by thousands of African Slaves who fled plantations in search of freedom.

Released to co-inside with the anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the UK in 1807, the series takes us on a journey through the cruel slave plantations of Georgia, the American revolutionary war, Nova Scotia in Canada, the coast of Sierra Leone and the trim parlours of Georgian England.
