Film Description

The powerful true tale of one boy's struggle out of isolation and illiteracy. The film is based on the autobiography by Gavino Ledda, the son of a Sardinian shepherd, who managed to escape his harsh rural existence by slowly educating himself, despite violent opposition from his brutal father. The first film to win both the Palme d'Or and the International Critics Prize at Cannes.
