Film Description

Set in Dublin during the General Strike and the Lockout of 1913, RTÉ's excellent adaptation of James Plunkett's best-selling novel shows the lives of the Irish workers, the strike, the riots and the hardships of early 20th Century Ireland in the turbulent years prior to the Easter Rising. This was a landmark series for RTÉ, and the first time they had attempted such an ambitious and expensive production. Scripted by Hugh Leonard.
