Film Description

Bram Stokers Dracula (Francis Ford Coppola, 1992). Gary Oldman is masterful as the eponymous Count - he brings a malevolent vibrancy to a role that, in other hands, had long foundered in clichéd lethargy. Loaded with stylish visual trickery, this is a refreshing anomaly in Coppola's later career, and reminds us of the cinematic flamboyance of his better days.
Mary Shelleys Frankenstein (Kenneth Branagh, 1994). An all-star version that remains faithful to Mary Shelley's gothic horror story in which Victor Frankenstein creates a life that goes awry from his designs and ends up as an outcast and monster.
