Film Description
A purely delightful romantic musical, Daddy Long Legs stars Fred Astaire as millionaire Jervis Pendleton III, who acts as the unknown benefactor to Leslie Caron's French orphan girl, financing the girl's education on the proviso that his identity is never revealed to her.
Moved by Caron's letter of thanks, Astaire's secretary Thelma Ritter advises him to go to France to visit the 'child'. When he arrives, he finds that his ward has grown up rather nicely, and the two fall in love. Highlights include a solo ballet by Caron and a wonderful Astaire routine involving a set of drums. The score includes the classic Johnny Mercer 'Something's Gotta Give'.
