Film Description

Paul Newman plays one of his best-loved roles as the loner who won't, or can't, conform to the arbitrary rules of his captivity. Kennedy won an Oscar, but the whole cast excels, powering a droll, witty, and moving tale of the efforts inmates go to in order to retain humanity on a Southern chain gang. Some claim it as a Christian allegory.
