Film Description
Mrs Helly thinks her son Victor can do no wrong, but he is in fact a viciously violent member of Ireland's underworld. Even his gang are shocked when he carves up one of his victims with a stanley knife. But Victor wins the approval and encouragement of the mysterious McLure (Sean McGinley) and embarks on a series of random killings. As Victor becomes a much-feared local legend, local journalist Ryan sets out to bring him to justice.
This brutal film that tries to give the viewer a true taste of what Belfast was like during the height of the troubles with its account of the Loyalist Shankhill Butchers who terrorised Catholics in the city in the 1970s. Features a great performance from Stuart Townsend in the lead role.

Brutal film that tries to give the viewer a true taste of what Belfast was like during the height of the troubles. The Shankhill Butchers were Loyalists who tortured and murdered Catholics in unbelievably horrific ways amd were alienated by even the likes of the U.D.A. and U.V.F. who were themselves carrying out sectarian killings of Catholics on a mass scale. The Shankhill Butchers were not attached to the I.R.A. as stated in the films review from MovieMail as they were Protestant Loyalists. < less
