More mayhem from the stylish and inventive Miike Takashi, with the director himself essaying a chilling performance as a brutally sadistic gangleader (a role he handles with all the relish he lends to his cutomarily sanguinary Yakuza epics). One gang attempts to end a detructive feud, but the clan chiefs are one step ahead, planning one all-powerfuil organisation. While the bloodletting is given its head, Takashi here spends more time on characterisation – with notable dividends (Tartan also has the extreme Visitor Q, a truly bizarre offering, in its current lists). < less
