You can now watch 3D films at home! Blu-ray 3D is the new format for playing 3D films in high-definition quality on your television.

To make it work you need a 3D television, a compatible Blu-ray player and special glasses. This system uses active shutter technology, which is different to the passive polarising 3D they use at the cinema - the battery powered glasses actively synchronises with your TV.

Thankfully, 3D Blu-ray discs are back-compatible with existing Blu-ray players. You can play standard Blu-ray discs on a 3D player and also play 3D Blu-ray discs on any Blu-ray player – they will just play in 2D.

Given the boom in 3D films at the cinema, it seems that there will be plenty of 3D Blu-ray releases over the coming years. < show less
