The acting of the three leads has improved immeasurably since the first film, with Daniel Radcliffe in particular, fresh from acclaim on stage in Equus, showing a sly sense of comic timing and an emotional core to Potter. Jim Broadbent is a wonderful addition to the cast as the ambiguous sycophant Professor Slughorn, and Helena Bonham Carter continues to tear the screen apart as the wicked Bellatrix.
